Checking Out The ‘Big Bug’ Exhibit At The Minnesota Zoo

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (WCCO) — We all know the bugs in Minnesota can get huge during the summer and we mainly think of black flies and mosquitoes.

But few crawly creatures are as big as the ones at the Minnesota Zoo right now. WCCO-TV’s Edward Moody was at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley Thursday morning checking out some new things at the zoo this year, including some creepy crawlers.


The exhibit features a giant tarantula, artificial of course, but it’s one of many features at the new exhibit. The Big Bugs exhibit opens at the Minnesota Zoo this weekend and runs through Labor Day. It’s free with your admission to the zoo.


Eric Runquist with the exhibit said some of the creatures include scorpions, a giant firefly, a stag beetle and bumble bees. He said they have 13 larger than life animatronic bugs to go along with a live…
